Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy’s dad-rock project — literally, it is a collaboration with his 18-year-old son, Spencer — Tweedy has spawned one of the year’s most wonderful, star-studded music videos. Directed by actor and national treasure Nick Offerman, “Low Key” finds the Tweedy men selling their new album Sukierae door-to-door because their label won’t help them promote it. Best of all, it features appearances by Michael Shannon, John Hodgman, Mavis Staples, Steve Albini, Chance the Rapper, Conan O’Brien, Andy Richter, and Wilco’s Glenn Kotche.
Ever the perfect human — and evidently a close enough friend of Jeff Tweedy for the two to exchange text messages, Offerman told the Wall Street Journal this about the experience: “Getting to work with the two of them and getting to see their rapport as father and son, as well as bandmates, was really quite heartwarming… I left that weekend with a pretty solid crush on both of them.”
